Depois de acordar do coma, Kirito descobre, a partir de um print mostrado por seu amigo Egil, que Asuna, e outros 300 jogadores (Os Trezentos de SAO :P) não saíram do coma e que estão presos em outro jogo, um chamado Alfheim Online, ou ALO. Kirito então entra no jogo para procurar por Asuna sem sequer querer saber dos outros 300 players onde é ajudado por Leafa, que é sua irmã (sem ambos saberem disso), logo descobre que ALO faz parte do plano de mais um gamer master filho da mãe que quer ferrar o mundo um programador de jogos para tentar dominar o mundo a lá desenho animado, ele usa Asuna em seu plano para se casar com ela no mundo real enquanto ela está em coma fazendo-o assim assumir a empresa de sua familia.

After waking up from the coma, Kirito finds out, since a print shown to him by his friend Egil, that Asuna and another 300 players (The 300 from SAO :P) didn't 'escaped' the coma and now are stuck in another game named Alfheim Online, or ALO. Then Kirito joins the game to look for Asuna, without even carring about the other 300 players, he gets helped by Leafa, that is actually his sister (but none of them know that), soon they find out that ALO makes part of a plan of another gamer master son of a chicken who wants to own the world a game master tho rule the world in a stupid cartoon stile, the Game Master, Noboyuki Sugou, uses Asuna in his plan to get marry with her in the real life while she's in coma, making him own her parents company.
